Latrun Museum

Today we went to the Latrun Museum in Israel it is located in Latrun, Israel, in the Ayalon Valley, between Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. While the Latrun Armored Corps Museum is a memorial for many Israelis who have fought in the country's tanks, Latrun has a much longer history. The name "Latrun" is thought to derive from "La Toron de Chevaliers" (the Tower of the Knights), the French name of the Crusader castle that occupied the crest of the hill in the 12th century. The museum has about 120 armored battle vehicles on display, from World War 2 French Hotchkiss tanks to the latest model of the Israel Merkava tank. Some of the items date back to World War I, but most of the vehicles participated in the War of Independence (1948) and the Six Day War (1967). The museum also serves as a memorial site of the Israeli Armoured Corps. This is a picture of me on a Merkava tank.
